History

Chiel Construction have been in business since early 2003, 3 directors formed the company with an ethos of providing a can do approach with regards to their clients. Working on residential projects and commercial projects since 2003 the company over the years has built up a solid blue chip client base. Since 2005 Chiel Construction has been one of the framework contractors for the University of Warwick, a prestigious position. In recent years despite the economic downturn Chiel Construction has continued their success, increasing the number of staff on site and within the office. Looking forward into 2017, training of site and office staff continues, as does the “can do” attitude behind the formation of the company.

Company Overview:

Chiel Construction has approximately 20 directly employed staff and are based in Coventry within the West Midlands. Experienced with the delivery of contract values from £1,000 up-to £1,250,000, throughout a variety of disciplines within the
construction industry. A wealth of in house experience to ensure the end product meets or exceeds the clients expectations. Chiel are proud sponsors of Bedworth United FC and two junior football teams based within Coventry. The Managing Director is a regular participant in marathons and regularly raises money for charity through these endeavors.

Site Staff

All staff employed by Chiel Construction are carefully selected and suited to each project ensuring they have the skill set required. As well as general operatives we have a selection of all of the traditional trades such as bricklayers, ground-workers, and carpenters, all employed directly to ensure high standards of workmanship. All staff on site are regularly visited and monitors by the contracts director to ensure work is carried out to a high standard and with consideration to
the health and safety requirements of the project.

Office Staff: 4 directly employed Quantity Surveyors/Project Managers to carefully manage each project despite the size, all working towards meeting and exceeding client’s expectations. With a wealth of experience within the office team no project is too much and all works are approached with the can do attitude the company was formed with.

Directors

The levels of experience, passion and commitment from the directors has been key to the continued success of the company. With a combined 40 years of construction industry experience on site and within the office environment over a multitude of construction disciplines. Living up-to their reputation of the “nice boys of building” they ensure projects are delivered to the exacting standard they have become known for.

Health and Safety:

There is nothing so important that we can’t take the time to do it safely! On all projects Chiel Construction ensure Health and Safety is of paramount importance. Regardless of project size or value, Risk Assessments and Method Statements are carried out and made available for client review on all projects. This helps to eliminate accidents by ensuring all works are carried out in a planned systematic and safe manner.

Training:

All staff working on site hold relevant CSCS cards, and attend asbestos awareness courses on a yearly basis. All staff in control of plant holds relevant and up to date licences. On large projects regular inspections are carried out by an external Health and Safety consultant to ensure standards on site remain high at all times. All staff receive regular training to ensure any changes in CDM regulations and Health and Safety policy is adhered to. Chiel Construction are committed to continuous improvement in our Health and Safety standards, working with Health and Safety Consultants, Construction Safety Advisory Services Ltd to ensure that the highest standards are in place and continually improved where possible.

Accreditation:

CHAS approval ensures that the highest standards of health and safety are present within the company and maintained on site. Yearly assessments ensure the health and safety throughout the company is stringently assessed and paramount to any project being considered successfully.

Construction Line – A Government initiative to ensure that contractors are suitably checked and meet sufficient standards for carrying out works within the public sector. Ensures contractors on the scheme have met a number of standards suitable for carrying out works within the public sector.

Safecontractor – We are Safecontractor approved which is a scheme ran by the Government that approves companies who meet specific standards of health & safety.

Achilles BuildingConfidence – We have successfully achieved the BuildingConfidence accreditation standard which requires the company to undergo a rigorous audit to assess our capability, competence and compliance in line with audit protocol.

SMAS – SMAS is another SSIP accreditation we have achieved that provides complete management of contractor health & safety assessments.

ISO9001 Ensures that the company has developed and implemented a quality management system to ensure the end product meets customer, statutory, and regulatory requirements. This is something we are working towards in 2017.
