October 2018. Weoley Castle Pre-School Extension and Refurbishment. Value: £691,434.
The works consisted of an internal refurbishment and upgrade of the existing toilet facilities, the construction of a ‘Timber frame’ extension to provide 3 new class rooms with adjoining toilet facilities, and the construction of an external ‘soft play’ area.
The school remained fully operational throughout the project. Careful consideration took place during the planning of the project to ensure that all site attendants were DBS checked, the construction area was fully secured from unauthorised access, deliveries were scheduled before and after school hours, strict site specific rules were adhered to ensure a complete segregation between the children and the construction works.
Chiel Construction carefully planned and managed all operations on site under CDM regulations and in conjunction with the client’s requirements and needs.
June 2017. University of Birmingham – Summer 2017 Works. Value: £560,000
We were awarded 3 Summer Projects at the University of Birmingham this year; the refurbishment of 11 rooms in the Arts & ERI Building incorporating new ceilings and partitions, new flooring and decorations and associated electrical and mechanical installations. Secondly, the refurbishment of a large lecture theatre in the Arts Building including the conversion of a projector room, the replacement of seating and writing tops and alterations to electrical and mechanical services. Our final project at the University was the refurbishment of a GF room in the Sportex Building. These works comprised of demolition and removal works, installation of a steel framed mezzanine floor and new flooring and decorations. We are excited to have further projects lined up with University of Birmingham this year.
April 2017. Breast Cancer Haven – The Haven. Value: £580,000
For 6 months of 2017, Chiel took on the project of converting a Bed & Breakfast to a Breast Cancer Haven Respite Centre. This included building an extension the the property and a complete refurbishment of the existing build. The Haven opened it’s doors to the public in October 2017 and now is the home of a number of treatment rooms, group rooms, a brand new Orangery, offices, kitchen and toilet facilities. Chiel will continue to support the Breast Cancer Haven and their fundraising efforts – one of our Company Directors will be running the London Marathon 2018 for the Breast Cancer Haven.
November 2016. CareTech Community Services – Stage 5 West Park Adaptations. Value: £30,500
Working with a client we have a solid working relationship with, we completed Stage 5 of the West Park Adaptations for CareTech. We converted a staff kitchen and communal area to a self contained assisted living unit incorporating a new mini kitchen and level access shower room. In 2017, we have begun work on Stages 6 & 7 of these adaptations which have included the creation of a new sensory room at West Park.
July 2016. University of Warwick – Cryfield Residences. Value: £1,200,000
A contract you can view photographs of in our Gallery is the refurbishment and redecoration of Cryfield Residences for the University of Warwick. We completed this project in October 2016 after removing and installing new carpets throughout the building, replacing all existing kitchens and the complete redecoration of all bedrooms, kitchens & communal areas.
May 2016. De Montfort University – Beaumont Town FC. Value: £480,000
Another large project we worked on in 2016 was an extension to the existing clubhouse to form new changing rooms, showers, toilets and associated drainage and external works for De Montfort University. These works were completed by October 2016 and we look forward to working alongside the university in the future.
March 2016. Cromwell Residential – Phoenix House Student Accommodation. Value: £1,600,000
Our largest contract of 2016 was the £1,600,000 conversion of the Phoenix House building in Wolverhampton, to form student accommodation for Cromwell Residential. This project involved the complete refurbishment of the existing derelict warehouse, to create 5 floors of student accommodation with 89 bedrooms and associated facilities. January 2016. University of Warwick – Monoliths Installation. Value: £188,000
One of the many projects we have worked on for the University of Warwick is the installation of a number of large monoliths around the university campus. From laying the initial foundations and trenching, to delivering and installing the new monoliths to various locations around the university, Chiel Construction continue to cement their relationship with the University of Warwick.
