Building Better Communities, Not Just Buildings.

Social Value

Our mission is to deliver sustainable growth while creating measurable social, economic, and environmental value through all our activities. We are committed to minimising our environmental impact and supporting the UK’s transition to a more sustainable future.

We are proud to hold a Social Value Certificate of Completion through Constructionline, reflecting our commitment to embedding social value principles into our operations and project delivery in line with recognised industry standards.

In accordance with the Government’s Social Value Model (PPN 06/20), we actively contribute to strengthening local communities by creating employment opportunities, supporting skills development, engaging with local supply chains, and delivering positive outcomes for the areas in which we operate.

We maintain strong, ethical relationships with our customers, employees, suppliers, and stakeholders by promoting responsible business practices that generate wider social benefits beyond the built environment.

We are equally committed to providing a safe, inclusive, and accessible workplace, where equal opportunities, wellbeing, and professional development are prioritised. Through continuous training and a culture of support, we empower our workforce to develop skills, progress in their careers, and contribute meaningfully to our collective success.

At Chiel Construction, we are committed to supporting the development of future talent and making a positive contribution to the communities in which we work.

Student Work Observations
We actively support local students with an interest in construction by offering opportunities to observe live projects, providing valuable insight into site operations and guidance on potential career pathways within the industry.

Apprenticeships
We have a strong commitment to apprenticeships, with approximately 15% of our workforce having started their careers through our apprenticeship programmes, helping to build the next generation of skilled professionals.

Supporting Local Communities
Our team is passionate about giving back to the community. Many of our staff volunteer with youth groups and charitable organisations, and we undertake annual fundraising for a chosen charity. Additionally, our Managing Director dedicates time each week to supporting a local scout group, demonstrating our commitment to community engagement.

Careers Engagement
We engage with the next generation by attending local careers fairs and events, promoting opportunities within the construction industry and inspiring future talent to explore rewarding careers.

Solihull College & University Centre - Woodlands Campus

Chiel was employed by Solihull College & University Centre to build their fourth brick workshop, which is required due to the rising demand for their bricklaying course.

During the building process, we were helped by students of Solihull College & University Centre with the bricklaying.

Japanese Peace Garden - Memorial Park, Coventry

The project started as an education project involving five Coventry primary schools and a Noh theatre group “Between the Stones”. The school communities learned about the links between Coventry and Hiroshima especially the importance of reconciliation and peace. The final part of the project was for pupils to design a miniature Japanese peace garden.

University of Warwick - Seedlings Childcare Nursery

Thank You Card.jpeg
Thank You Card1.jpeg

As per the Chiel Constructions initiative, we strive to engage with the community around each of our projects. On this occasion, we had the honor of working with the Seedling’s childcare nursery at the University of Warwick Wellesbourne campus. The children were invited to be escorted to a safe location on the site boundary to watch the Chiel excavators at work. Once the presentation of the diggers had finished our Projects Director, Andy Kemp, and Senior Site Manager, Graham Hingley completed the handover of toy diggers for the children to enjoy during their playtime.

We were proud to receive a lovely thank you card from the children in the nursery which is displayed in our offices!
