We believe in harnessing our resources to create a lasting, meaningful difference, advocating for inclusivity, innovation, and responsibility in all that we do.
At Chiel Construction, we are committed to reducing our environmental impact and embedding sustainable practices across all our operations.
Reducing Carbon Emissions
We utilise solar-powered eco-welfare units, targeting up to 90% solar energy use to significantly reduce diesel consumption. In addition, we are transitioning to electric vehicles for internal transport, with a target of 90% of project travel being undertaken using EVs.
Local Materials & Supply Chain
Wherever possible, we source materials from local builders’ merchants, supporting local SMEs while reducing transport-related emissions.
Local Contractors
We aim to deliver approximately 70% of our project works through local subcontractors, strengthening community links and supporting local employment.
Waste Reduction & Recycling
We work exclusively with waste contractors who divert at least 80% of waste from landfill. We also seek opportunities to collaborate with local social enterprises that recycle materials such as timber while supporting disadvantaged groups. Where feasible, we will continue to implement innovative practices, including redistributing materials such as aggregate and cladding for reuse.
Sustainable Transport
Chiel promotes car sharing and uses electric vehicles for the majority of internal journeys. All external deliveries are carried out by FORS and CLOCS-accredited suppliers, ensuring high standards of environmental and road safety performance. We also require that 100% of site vehicles meet Euro 6 emissions standards or are electric/hybrid.
