Chiel Construction successfully delivered the refurbishment and transformation of the Saddlers Club at Bescot Stadium for Walsall Football Club, converting a previously derelict social club into a high-quality, multi-purpose events space.

Working to the project requirements under a JCT Intermediate Building Contract with Contractor’s Design (2016 Edition), our team undertook a comprehensive programme of works. This included strip-out and demolition, structural alterations, installation of screed and resin flooring, roof repairs, drainage surveys and remediation, and the installation of new doors, glazing, and suspended ceilings. Extensive mechanical and electrical upgrades were also delivered, including new distribution boards, lighting, small power systems, heating, ventilation, heat recovery, and specialist installations such as a beer cooling system.

As Principal Contractor, Chiel Construction managed the project as a design and build scheme, working closely with the client and project stakeholders, including an overseas client team. The works required careful coordination of new service installations, management of specialist trades, and maintaining site security within an exposed stadium environment. Regular communication and progress reporting were maintained throughout to ensure alignment with client expectations.

The project was delivered over a 16-week programme, successfully transforming the building into a modern, functional, and versatile events venue. The completed facility now provides Walsall Football Club with a durable and flexible space, enhancing its offering for both matchday and non-matchday use
