Chiel Construction successfully delivered the refurbishment and conversion of the Cryfield Gardeners Compound at the University of Warwick, transforming an existing storage facility into modern welfare accommodation.

Working under a JCT Design and Build contract, procured via competitive tender, the project involved the upgrade of an existing building to provide high-quality staff facilities within the University’s main campus.

The scope of works included the installation of new welfare amenities such as showering and toilet facilities, drying rooms, and locker areas, creating a functional and comfortable environment for on-site staff. In addition, the project incorporated the installation of new services, including water, power, heating, and foul drainage connections, ensuring full operational capability.

As part of the refurbishment, the existing structure was adapted and enhanced to accommodate the new layout and services, requiring careful coordination to integrate modern systems within the original building fabric.

The project was delivered over an 18-week programme, with a contract value of £560,000, successfully providing a practical and well-equipped welfare facility that supports the University’s operational needs.
