Chiel Construction successfully delivered the construction of a new dryer building at Ibstock Brick Plc’s Aldridge facility as part of Project Concorde, providing a high-quality industrial solution to support the client’s manufacturing operations.

Working under an NEC contract, procured via competitive tender, our team undertook a comprehensive programme of works over a 15-month period. The project followed on from demolition works completed by others and comprised the full construction of a new industrial building from substructure through to superstructure and external works.

The scheme included significant groundworks, incorporating ground level reduction, piling mat installation, pile foundations, and reinforced ground beams and slabs. Structural works were delivered through the erection of a steel portal frame, followed by the installation of roofing and cladding systems to provide a durable and weather-resistant building envelope.

Internal works included upgrades to mechanical and electrical systems to support the building’s operational requirements, alongside the construction of an external yard slab to enhance functionality and site logistics. The project required careful coordination of multiple work packages to maintain programme efficiency and ensure seamless integration with the wider site operations.

As Principal Contractor, Chiel Construction managed the project within a live industrial environment, maintaining high safety standards while coordinating with client-appointed contractors. The delivery also required adherence to local environmental regulations, particularly during groundworks and foundation installation, alongside strict programme control to meet key project milestones.

The project was successfully completed to programme, delivering a robust and high-performing industrial facility that enhances Ibstock Brick’s production capabilities and supports future operational growth.
