Chiel Construction successfully delivered refurbishment works within the Histopathology Department at Warwick Hospital for South Warwickshire NHS Foundation Trust, providing upgraded clinical support facilities within a live healthcare environment.

Working under a JCT Minor Works Building Contract (2016 Edition), procured via competitive tender, our team undertook a 21-week programme of internal refurbishment works. The project included demolition and alterations, internal installations, and the replacement of fixtures, fittings, and specialist equipment to improve functionality and compliance within the department.

The scope of works incorporated mechanical and electrical upgrades, new IPS systems, flooring, worktops, and associated finishes, alongside structural and external works where required. Asbestos removal works were also carefully managed and completed in accordance with statutory requirements, ensuring the safety of staff and building users throughout the project.

As Principal Contractor, Chiel Construction delivered the works within a fully operational hospital setting, requiring careful planning and coordination to minimise disruption to clinical services. Works were sequenced to maintain hygiene, safety, and continuity of operations, with close liaison maintained with hospital representatives and stakeholders throughout the programme.

The project was successfully completed to programme, delivering modernised, durable, and compliant facilities that support the ongoing operational needs of the Histopathology Department while maintaining the highest standards expected within a healthcare environment
