Chiel Construction successfully delivered the refurbishment and modernisation of an existing laundrette facility at the University of Warwick as part of a service provider transition programme. The project involved undertaking all necessary enabling works and managing the installation of new laundry equipment on behalf of the University, ensuring full compliance with CDM 2015 Regulations throughout.

Delivered within a live student accommodation environment, the project was carefully planned to minimise disruption to residents while maintaining safe access and continuity of building operations. Chiel Construction acted as Principal Contractor, coordinating all stakeholders including University Estates teams, outgoing and incoming service providers, and specialist installation contractors.

The scope of works included the strip-out and removal of existing laundry equipment, modifications to electrical, water and drainage services, internal refurbishment works, and preparation of the facility for the installation of new equipment. Chiel also managed the delivery, installation and commissioning process to ensure the upgraded facility was fully operational and ready for use.

Particular attention was given to programme management, health and safety compliance, and coordination of specialist services, with works sequenced to accommodate operational constraints within the occupied accommodation setting. Robust site management procedures were implemented to control noise, maintain safe pedestrian routes, and minimise inconvenience to building users throughout the project.

Completed successfully and handed over on programme, the refurbished laundrette now provides students and residents with a modern, reliable, and efficient laundry facility, delivering an enhanced user experience and supporting the University's ongoing investment in high-quality accommodation services.
